HOME MESSAGE FROM REV JENNY
19th Sunday after Pentecost
3rd October , 2021

Greetings in the name of Jesus.

I do hope you didn’t get washed away this week. Boy we have had some rain!
We have had the go ahead from the Insurance company so we can get the Memorial Fence repaired out the front of St. Aidan’s. I am just waiting for Peter Murnane to let me know when he can repair it for us.

I haven’t been real well this week, partly due to the stresses we have all faced over the last 18 months and partly due to the stress of my injured hand. I was going to wait until I had had my surgery and take leave then but that has been bumped until at least mid November and I feel I shouldn’t wait to take some leave.

I have applied to the Bishop to take 3 weeks leave from October 11th. This will mean postponing our next parish council meeting and I hope that is OK with Council members. I will let you know when the meeting is rescheduled.

Synod is scheduled for November 6th. Although there is a notional date for opening churches and church gatherings for over a hundred people from 5th November, this is an unlikely scenario, so the diocese is exploring holding a series of smaller regional gatherings to minimize travel, and encourage the greatest participation.

A final decision will be announced next Wednesday.
Please pray for the diocesan staff tasked with organising Synod.

May the Lord bless you with peace and joy.

Jenny

Prayer of the Week
O God, your Son has taught us that we must receive your sovereign rule
like a little child: help us to turn to you in faith and simplicity of heart,
so that we may receive your blessing and enter the kingdom your Son has promised;
through the same Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord
~ Amen~

ABM REFLECTION:
Jesus told his disciples to let the children come to him and not to stop them. He went on to say that we must all accept God with a childlike trust. Have you ever experienced a child climbing up on the couch and saying, “catch me daddy” as they leapt into the air? Poor dad must fly across the room, almost dislocating every bone in their body, but they catch their precious child. The child never doubted that dad would catch them. This childlike trust is, I think, how Jesus encourages us to think about God and the kingdom of heaven. Do we fill our heads and hearts with adult questions, demanding proof before we leap, or do we leap out in faith, trusting that God is there?
