“There is neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, male nor female, for we are all one in Christ.” Gal 2:28

IN John 4 we read of an encounter between a Samaritan Woman and Jesus. Here was a woman living on the fringe of her society, marginalised due to her lifestyle.

Jesus, despite the social, gender, cultural, religious and political barriers that would normally separate these two individuals, smashes through them and not only speaks to this woman but offers her forgiveness and eternal life.

Her response, to go and tell everyone she could. Many believed that day, and we see Jesus halting his journey for a few days to stay with the people of this village.

Too easily we allow barriers, social, gender, cultural, religious and political to separate us from others but Jesus shows that this is not our way. Paul expounds this in Gal 2:28,
“There is neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, male nor female, for we are all one in Christ.”
May we not only welcome people of all backgrounds into our lives and communities, but not be shy in sharing the Good News we have in Jesus Christ with them.

With Blessings
Rev. Jenny
