St Aidan's Patronal Day Service &
Commissioning of new Parish Council 2017

We gathered together to celebrate the patron saint of our parish, St Aidan, on Sunday 3rd of September
which was quite by coincidence Father’s Day. Of course St Aidan’s annual feast is the 31st of August
but more about that in a moment.
Rev’d Jenny and Richard on annual leave returned from their wonderful adventure ready to
commemorate and celebrate the day. The service was special because the Parish Council
was commissioned for the forthcoming year.
We took part in special devotional vows for being of service to our church.
This was followed by a two course luncheon at Skene’s Creek Lodge.
We were not without a special unification challenge by our Lord...

LAST week we had the joy of having the Bishop with us as 4 people confirmed their faith in God.
Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey at which you affirm for yourself the faith into which you have been baptized and your intention to live a life of committed discipleship.
This affirmation is confirmed through prayer and the laying on of hands by the confirming bishop. The Church also asks God to give you power through the Holy Spirit to enable you to live in the way of Jesus.
