A bit about Anglican Parish of the Otways
Church Services

Sunday – family based Eucharist where we seek to encounter God in word and sacrament. In church activities are supplied for the younger members of the family.

Tuesday – a Reflective Eucharist where we allow time to pause and reflect quietly on God through worship and the Word.

Vigil Mass - “Vigil” is a service of the evening before Sunday and is a form of homage to worshipping on the sabbath! The service is just like a Sunday service but without the hymns.

Inhospital Services - Held at Laura Pengilley Wing at Otway Health every 1st and 3rd Monday @ 2.30pm. This is a casual ecumenical service. Less formal than Sunday worship but is inclusive of all denominations and faiths.  Participants have a choice not to partake in communion. This is often followed with a cuppa and a chat.
Shrove Tuesday - also known as Pancake Day is the day immediately preceding Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.It is celebrated in some countries by consuming pancakes and other “forbidden foods” before the fasting period of Lent when many Christians make a special point of self-examination, considering what amendments of life or areas of spiritual growth they especially need to ask God's help in dealing with.

Ash Wednesday -
Ash Wednesday is one of the most popular and important holy days in the liturgical calendar. Ash Wednesday opens Lent, a season of fasting and prayer.
Ash Wednesday takes place 46 days before Easter Sunday, and comes from the ancient Jewish tradition of penance and fasting. The practice includes the wearing of ashes on the head. The ashes symbolize the dust from which God made us. Ashes also symbolize grief, in this case, grief that we have sinned and caused division from God.
